From September 26th to 28th, 2016, the School of Hydropower invited Professor Zhou Lixing of Tsinghua University to hold an academic report on “Basic and Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Multiphase Flow” in the lecture hall on the 1st floor of Building 1 of Jinhua Campus. A total of more than 120 graduate students participated in the report. Turbulent multiphase flow is widely found in nature, organisms and engineering. In the field of hydroelectric engineering, and the sediment containing the liquid turbine flow thermal pollution of rivers and seas environment, such as water, disposed in the water intake, water pipes and gas erosion dam near the high-speed stream of cooling water works, hydroelectric solid multiphase flow etc. exist turbulent flow phenomena. Understanding the basic knowledge, numerical simulation theory and methods in this area is of great significance to engineering design.
On September 26, Professor Zhou Lixing introduced the basic concepts of turbulence and multiphase flow—the basic energy concept of turbulence, time average, probability density function, correlation quantity, time scale and length scale. Definition and flow pattern of multiphase flow, particle/ Droplet/bubble size and distribution, apparent density and volume fraction, particle/droplet/bubble motion resistance, heat transfer and mass transfer, particle/droplet/bubble dynamics.
On September 27th, Professor Zhou Lixing's numerical simulation of single-phase turbulent flow--liquid/gas turbulence model-ke model, Reynolds stress equation model, algebraic stress model, nonlinear ke model, large eddy simulation of liquid/gas flow and Direct numerical simulations were reported.
In the September 28th report, Prof. Zhou Lixing introduced the numerical simulation of multiphase turbulent flow--Eulerian-Laer model, Euler-Eulerian model, two-phase turbulence model, large eddy simulation of multiphase flow and direct Numerical Simulation.
At the end of each report, the discussion on the relevant topics, the academic atmosphere is very strong, Professor Zhou Lixing patiently answered questions from teachers and students.
